Who was affected by the Black Death?

The Black Death began in Europe, Italy. The people that were most affected were the poor because they did not have the same sanitary conditions as the rich. Many Jews were blamed for the causing of the plague. Because of this, many Synagogues were burnt down, and many Jews were killed. The plague spread to Russia and the people there were affected. After Russia, China was affected. Later the Middle East was affected. The plague left people in Europe with a third of the population dead. People not only died from direct effects of the plague, but from injuring themselves. They believed that God was punishing them so they showed him that they could punish themselves. The church later put a stop to this but not after many died from self-inflicted wounds. Monks and Priests were especially hit because they cared for the Black Death’s victims. In the end, the plague eventually reached as far as Greenland.
